State Bank of India (SBI) 2000 PO Recruitment

SBI invited Online Applications from eligible Indian Citizens for appointment as Probationary Officers (POs) in State Bank of India. Candidates selected are liable to be posted anywhere in India. Preliminary Examination for Selection of PO will be conducted tentatively in June 2015.

Eligible candidates who willing to apply may submit their Online Application through the Official SBI Website statebankofindia.com or sbi.co.in from 13-04-2015 to 02-05-2015.

Those who are in the Final year/ Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if called for interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before 01-09-2015.

Selection Procedure: Online Test & Interview.
Online Test:
  • The test will be online objective type, consisting of: i). General Awareness, ii). General English, iii). Quantitative Aptitude, iv). Reasoning Ability, v). Marketing Aptitude/ Computer Knowledge.
  • The questions in objective tests, except for the test of General English, will be bilingual i.e., English & Hindi.
  • Each test will be of 40 marks.
  • For these objective type tests of total 200 marks.
  • Candidates will be given a composite time of 2 Hours 15 minutes.
  • There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests.
  • 1/4th mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Candidates will have to pass in each of the objective tests.
  • The passing marks in each of the tests will be decided by the Bank on the basis of the performance of all the competing candidates taken together in each test to a minimum required level.

Eligibility Criteria : 
  • Educational Qualification : Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government. Candidate having integrated dual degree (IDD) certificate should ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before the eligiblity date.
Nationality : Indian

Selection Process :
Phase I : Examination consisting Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. The Objective Test will be online. Immediately after the online Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered. Questions relating to Descriptive Test will be available on computer (Online) and candidates will have to write the answers on the answer sheet (Offline) provided to them on Paper/Pen mode.
(i) Objective Test : The Objective Test with 2hours duration consists of 4 Sections with 50 marks each (Total 200 marks) as follows:
Syllabus :  
  1. Test of English Language (Grammer, Vocabulary, Comprehension etc.)
  2. Test of General Awareness, Marketing & Computers
  3. Test of Data Analysis & Interpretation
  4. Test of Reasoning (High Level)
Note : The candidates are required to qualify in each of the Tests by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.
(ii) Descriptive Test : The Descriptive Test with 1 hour duration (50marks) will be of “Test of English Language (comprehension, short précis, letter writing & essay)”. The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.
b) Phase  II : Group Discussion (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks)  ;  The aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both the Objective Tests and Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category. Adequate number of candidates in each category, as decided by the Bank will be called for Group Discussion and Interview.
Note : For Final Selection the candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-I and Phase-II separately.

  • SC / ST / PWD : Rs.100/-(Intimation Charges only).
  • All other : Rs.500/- (App. fee and intimation charges).
Candidates have the option of making the payment of requisite fees/ intimation charges either through the ONLINE mode or the OFFLINE mode.
(i) Offline mode : The system will generate a cash voucher/ challan form pre-printed with the candidate’s details which will be required to be presented at any State Bank of India branch counter with the requisite fee. On payment of the requisite fee through computer generated challan form, registration of the online application will be complete.
(ii) Online mode : The payment can be made by using debit card/ credit card/Internet Banking.

SBI Recruitment of 1500 Probationary Officers

1. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA : (AS ON 01.01.2013)
(A) Essential Academic Qualifications:
Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government.
(B) Age Limit: As on 01.01.2013
Not below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 01.01.2013 i.e candidates must have been born not earlier than 02.01.1983 and not later than 01.01.1992 (both days inclusive).
Relaxation in the Upper Age Limit to Reserved category candidates
Upper age is relaxable by
(i) 3 years in the case of OBC candidates.
(ii) 5 years in the case of :(a) SC/ST candidates. (iii) 10 years for VH/OH (Gen); 13 years for VH/OH (OBC) and 15 years for VH/OH (SC/ST) candidates.


Age : 21-30 years as on 01/01/2013. Age relaxation as per Govt. rules.

Selection Procedure : Final selection will be made on the basis of performance in the written test on 28/04/2013.

Selection procedure:

As part of the SBI associate bank`s recruitment process Written test & Interview are to be conducted.The written test consists only of Objective type questions under the sections,
General awareness, General english, Quantitative aptitude, Reasoning & Marketing aptitude/ Computer Knowledge.
While the bank shall decide qualifying marks, registrants must pass in each section.For every wrong answer – 0.25 would be reduced as negative mark

For the purpose of holding interviews, candidates will be shortlisted in the ratio of 1:3 based on the minimum score fixed.
